Moonlight and the Sea
Two years in exile on a remote Venezuelan beach, weaving by candlelight and watching fishermen mend their nets. Manolo returned to New York with something no one had seen before.
Natural fibers flowing like water. Shawls knotted with cork floats designed to drift on the ocean. Flattened seashells threaded through cotton lace. Fabrics weathered and sunburnt, shaped into hollow curves where the body is implied rather than defined.
The fashion world took notice. This was magic realism made wearable, clothing as story, each piece carrying a soul.
Magic realism, wearable.
